Background Info

Captain Falcon is the main character of the F Zero racing games. He's a tall, muscular guy in a cool uniform and helmet. He also drives a fast car too. Besides racing, Falcon also does some bounty hunting to supplement his income, that's why certain bad guys seem to hate him.
Anyways, in Smash, Captain Falcon is the fastest runner of all. He can run circles around the slower characters. He is also quite powerful, but his real power hits are very slow to start and recover. Captain Falcon, despite his bird inspired name, doesn't recover very well.
Captain Falcon is a secret character, so he won't be available at the start of the game. To get Falcon, you have to beat the single player mode in any difficulty with any number of lives but do so in under twenty minutes (sticking to Falcon's fast theme). Do that and Captain Falcon will challenge you to a fight on Planet Zebes in an one stock match. Beat him and you can use him. He's not that hard to beat. I remembered when I fought him, he just fell into the acid and got burned several times. I didn't have to do any work to KO him. The person to use to complete this task is DK. DK will take care of the Yoshis, Kirbies and Polygons easily with his specials. His giant punch also makes short work of Giant DK and he can just carry Metal Mario off the stage to save time.
Personal Stage: None, but you'll fight him for the first time on Planet Zebes
Personal Symbol: A falcon. What else do you think it could be?
Entrance: Falcon hops out of his F Zero racer that comes from the background.
Character choosing: Falcon shakes his left fist in the air and then poses for the camera.

Costumes

C up: Original Falcon with red helmet and gloves, purple costume and yellowish boots.
C left: Falcon in white costume with pink gloves, helmet and boots?!! What the... Actually, it doesn't look too bad.
C down: Falcon in red costume with purple gloves, helmet and boots. He certainly knows how to pick his colours. This is the red team costume.
C right: Falcon in black and grey. My favourite Falcon costume.
Blue Team Costume (Only available in team battles): Falcon with blue shirt and pants, yellow boots, red helmet and orange sleeves. Looks similar to the original but it's a bit different.
Green Team Costume (Only available in team battles): Falcon with grey boots and yellow or green for the rest of his costume. Nobody looks good in green. Falcon is no exception.
Wow, Falcon actually has six, count them, six costumes!

Moves List

Weak Attack

Buttons: A continuously while on the ground
Damage: 3%+3%+4%, and then 1% for each hit after
KKT score: over 300%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach: Medium Short
Flight Path: Straight up for the 4% hit
Description: Falcon jabs with his left, then his right, then give the enemy his right knee in the stomach, then his right fist will throw a flurry of punches.
My Opinion: This is weak, but not completely useless. Falcon can use the flurry punches to trap people against a wall. Otherwise, this move doesn't do much.
Rating: 2 out of 5

Recovery Attack 1

Buttons: When lying back to the floor, press A
Damage: 6%
KKT score: none, constant power
Startup: Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach: Medium Short
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon sort of does a hand stand and split kicks in that position before getting back on his feet. Falcon is invincible when he does this.
My Opinion: Not much to say about this really, since its your only attack option when lying on the floor facing the sky. Can get Falcon back on offense if you manage to hit an opponent. Useful for clearing people who happen to stand too close for their own good. If you haven't noticed, this is identical to Samus' recovery attack.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Recovery Attack 2

Buttons: When lying face down on the floor, press A
Damage: 6%
KKT score: none, constant power
Startup: Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon supports herself on his arms, then flips forward, kicking anyone near with his legs in the process, then gets back on his feet. Falcon is invincible when he does this.
My Opinion: It's Falcon's other recovery attack. It happen less often than the first recovery attack since most of the time victims of hard hits will lie face up. Again, this is the same as Samus' corresponding recovery attack.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Edge Attack 1

Buttons: When hanging on the edge with damage lower than 100%, press A
Damage: 6%
KKT score: none, constant power
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon pulls himself on to the stage and delivers a kick to the ankles with his right leg while still on his knees before he gets up. Falcon is invincible when he does this.
My Opinion: Edge attacks can save lives, if you can time them. This attack can get edge guarders out of the way and therefore save Falcon from danger. Use it only if no one's around or the edge guarder is standing close to the edge. Experienced players will stand a bit away from the edge if you (as any character) manages to hang on to it, so you need to evaluate the situation before you use the edge attack.
Rating: 2.5 out of 5

Edge Attack 2

Buttons: When hanging on the edge with damage over 100%, press A
Damage: 4%
KKT score: none, constant power
Startup: Slow
Duration: Short
Recovery: Medium slow
Reach: Short
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon slowly pulls himself back on to the stage, then delivers a punch to the stomachs (or face, for those who don't have stomaches) with his left fist. Falcon is invincible when he does this.
My Opinion: This is worse than the low damage edge attack, but better than nothing at all. Same guidelines as above.
Rating: 2 out of 5

Taunt

Buttons: L when on the ground
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium
Recovery: Fast
Description: Falcon raises turns to his right, raises his right arm in an diagonal angle and says "show me your moves." Is it me, or does the hand gesture looks a bit like those Nazi hand gestures? Mmmmm...
My Opinion: This taunt is pretty good, since the sound is loud enough. However, since the words come out so quickly, they can be confused with other statements, such as "Show me your boobs." etc.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Sideway Kick

Buttons: Tilt stick sideways + A on the ground. You can tilt the control stick slightly so that the kick angles a bit up or down.
Damage: 14%
KKT score: 120% using the more common 13% hit
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Very simple move. Falcon picks up his left foot and kicks forward. How difficult is that?
My Opinion: Not a bad move. It's a bit faster than Falcon's forward smash and the power is pretty good for a strong attack. Decent move for raising up damage or when the forward smash would be too slow.
Rating: 3 out of 5

Ankle Kick

Buttons: Tilt stick downward + A on the ground
Damage: 11%
KKT score: 145%
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Medium Short
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Near flat
Description: Falcon crouches and uses his left foot to poke at the opponent's ankles.
My Opinion: This move isn't all that fast, but it is useful for edge guarding people, if you want to be cheeky. The flat launch angle can screw people over when they try to come back to the stage.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Heel Kick

Buttons: Tilt stick upward + A on the ground
Damage: 9%+14%
KKT score: 99% for the second hit
Startup: Medium fast
Duration: Medium Long
Recovery: Fast
Reach: Medium, but the hit zone is pretty big due to the arc.
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon spins to his right and picks his right leg up to do a vertical split. The he'll keep turning back to the front while bring his foot down in an arc. Anyone standing in front of Falcon will get his heel smashed into his/her head.
My Opinion: This move isn't bad. It is actually one of the more powerful strong attacks in the game. It's not easy to time the move but it does have a fairly big hit zone to compensate. Notice that this move looks identical to Samus' up strong, but Falcon's version does more damage and is stronger. The world is so unfair.

Shoulder Ram

Buttons: A while running
Damage: 12%
KKT score: 135%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium
Recovery: Medium Slow
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon lowers her right shoulder and rams forward while running.
My Opinion: This is an okay running attack. Doesn't send people very far but it isn't too slow. Falcon has the fastest running speed in the game so you'll be using this move a fair bit.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Fire Kick

Buttons: Smash sideways + A while on the ground.
Damage: 18%
KKT score: 74%
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Medium Short
Recovery: Medium
Reach: Long
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon picks up his right foot, spins to his right, bends the right leg, spins around, and extends the right leg forward to deliver a powerful kick as he yells. Just before the hit phase, the kick goes so fast that anyone hit by it will be ignited in fire.
My Opinion: This is one of the coolest smashes in the game. For one thing, you get light people on fire. I think the fire happens because Falcon's kick was so fast that it ignited the air around his foot. Ouch to people who gets hit by this. The smash is pretty powerful and not too slow, and the reach is good too. One bad thing about these long reach smashes is that sometimes they fail to hit people who are really close. A pretty good smash attack.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Sweep Kick

Buttons: Smash down + A while on the ground
Damage: 16%
KKT score: 109% sideway, 108% for star finish
Startup: Fast
Duration: Long
Recovery: Medium Long
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Steep diagonal
Description: Falcon sticks his right foot out in crouching position and turns to his right. He spins around once with his leg out stretched to sweep people off of their feet.
My Opinion: This move is not a great smash attack. It's not that strong even on a full hit and it likes to give partial hits. The back hit is weaker than the forward hit but it doesn't really matter since both hits won't kill until very high damage. The reach is decent for a down smash, and you can't help but use it in some situations. This smash looks identical to Samus' down smash, but again Falcon's version gets more power (due to his bigger muscles, I presume).
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Elbow Strike

Buttons: Smash up + A while on the ground
Damage: 17%
KKT score: star finish at 161%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium Short
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Straight up
Description: Falcon spins to his left and raises his right elbow upward at a fast speed to strike any one above or beside him. He will spin once around during the attack. I always thought it was an uppercut until I saw it in slow motion in training mode.
My Opinion: This is smash is pretty fast, and the reach isn't too bad, but there's one teensy little problem... It's so damned weak! Come on, it took this move 161% just to kill Kirby?!! This move is not without its uses though. It is a decent air defence and you can start juggles with it. Wish it could be a bit stronger though.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5

Grab and Slam

Buttons: Grab (press R or Z + A) while on the ground, then push stick forward, press A, press R, or wait for a few seconds.
Damage: 12%
KKT score: Star finish at 174%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach (of Falcon's grab): Short
Flight Path: Steep Diagonal
Description: Falcon grabs the opponent with his left hand then picks up the opponent with both hands and slams the opponent into the ground before him.
My Opinion: This throw is weak, and you'll probably never see it kill anybody. It's also a bit hard for Falcon to grab people because his grab is extra short and he can easily run past his intended target. This throw is not completely useless. You can set up a juggle or a Falcon Dive with this thing. Just don't expect too much out of it.
Rating: 3 out of 5

Backward Boot

Buttons: Grab (press R or Z+A) while on the ground, then push stick backward
Damage: 16%
KKT score: 85%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Fast
Reach (of Falcon's grab): Short
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon grabs the opponent, holds the victim behind him with his right hand, and gives them the boot.
My Opinion: This is not an especially powerful throw, but it is a lot better than Falcon's forward throw. Use this one instead of the forward one if you can.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Jump Kick

Buttons: A or R while in the air
Damage: 16%
KKT score: 85%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium
Recovery: Medium Slow
Reach: Medium Short
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon sticks his right leg forward in an effort to kick anyone in front of him in mid air.
My Opinion: This kick is actually quite strong. The power is good, but the range is a bit short. If Falcon wants to knock someone in front of him out in the air, this is the move to use since the forward A is weak.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Double Forward Kick

Buttons: A or R + push stick forward in the air
Damage: 10% + 12%
KKT score: 201% for the first hit
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium Short
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Medium Long
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon kicks first with his right leg, then spins around to the left and kicks with his left leg.
My Opinion: This move is very weak and will probably never KO. However, you can't really avoid using it since it's instinctive to press the stick forward when there's an enemy in front. This move does have better reach than the neutral, so use it to raise the opponent's damage. If you want to knock someone out though, use the neutral kick.
Rating: 3 out of 5.

Reverse Knuckle

Buttons: A or R + push stick backwards in the air
Damage: 16%
KKT score: 92%
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Short
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Medium Long
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon turns to his left and punches backwards with his left fist. He will spin around once before he can use another move.
My Opinion: This move is pretty good air combat move. It is pretty fast, recovery isn't long, reach is not bad and the power is good too. Use it when someone is behind Falcon.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Flip Kick

Buttons: A or R + push stick upwards in the air
Damage: 16%
KKT score: star finish at 106%, but it can kill over the side too
Startup: Fast
Duration: Medium
Recovery: Medium Fast
Reach: Long
Flight Path: From straight up all the way to horizontal with slight downward angle
Description: Falcon flips backwards and kicks anything above or even slightly behind him with his left leg. Looks like he's trying to bicycle kick a soccer ball.
My Opinion: This move is great. It has the reach and isn't too slow. It is a good juggling move, but most of all, it can create crazy horizontal kills in the air. This move can KO over the side or over the top, and the horizontal send outs are awesome to watch. I use this move a lot when I use Falcon. Probably his best air move.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Stomp

Buttons: A or R + push stick downwards in air
Damage: 14%
KKT score: star finish at 170% if victim is on the ground. This move is capable of spiking
Startup: Medium Fast
Duration: Medium Long
Recovery: Medium
Reach: Medium
Flight Path: Straight down or very close to straight down when opponent is in the air and straight up if opponent is on the ground.
Description: Falcon will pull his arms up and extends his leg down to step on anyone below him.
My Opinion: This is Falcon's send down move, but since Falcon falls so quickly and this move also loses altitude quickly, it's a bit risky for Falcon to try to send down with this move. Only spike when the opponent is high up and very close to the stage. The priority of this move is pretty good, and the power is okay.
Rating: 3.5 ouf of 5

Falcon Punch

Buttons: Press B
Damage: 26%
KKT score: 30% with the common 24% hit
Startup: Very very slow
Duration: Medium Short
Recovery: Slow
Reach: Long
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon will yell "Falcon..." and goes into a crouching position (even while in the air) and charges up (not real charging like DK or Samus) with his right hand ready to punch. After a long while, Falcon will yell "... Punch!" and punches with right hand. A fiery falcon forms around the right fist as he punches. Anyone hit by the punch will fly far far away. Despite the fact Falcon's fist is on fire, the victims don't get burned.
My Opinion: This attack is incredibly powerful, and requires no actual charging on Falcon's part. Unfortunately, this move is very slow, especially the start up. It takes about two seconds for Falcon to actually punch. Experienced players will usually jump first before pressing B so Falcon will still be moving while starting the punch. Because of the slow speed, the Falcon punch is usually use to hit people who aren't paying attention or for edge guarding people.
Rating: 3.5 out of 5. It's damned slow, but when you manage to nail multiple enemies in one shot, you'll know the effort was worth it.

Falcon Dive (aka Falcon Flip or maybe even Falcon Grab)

Buttons: Push stick up + B
Damage: 20%
KKT score: 77%
Startup: Fast
Duration: Long (This refers to how much time in the move when Falcon can grab people)
Recovery: Slow (well, not until Falcon lands on something)
Reach: Long (since Falcon jumps up during the attack)
Flight Path: Normal
Description: Falcon will jump up and do a forward flip in the air with some sparkles appearing on him. That's all you are going to see if the attack fails to hit anyone. However, if Falcon gets near someone during the flip, he will grab on to the victim, and then flip away, causing an explosion that sends the victim flying and burning at the same time. If Falcon hits someone, he gets his third jump back. If he misses, he can't do anything until he lands or gets hit by something. This move cannot be blocked. Falcon jumps higher if he is on the ground then if he is in the air when doing this move. One weird thing about this move is that any character that gets hit will still be able to use his/her second jump, even if he/she used the second jump already.
My Opinion: This is an unique move in Smash. Anyways, this move can cause a lot of damage and is quite powerful. As a grab move, it also can't be blocked. However, Falcon must get really close to someone in order to grab the victim. The move can only hit one person at a time and this attack can be interrupted just like a throw. It's more of an offensive attack then a recovery move, since the move doesn't carry Falcon all that far. The ability to recover the third jump leads to some interesting situation, which means if Falcon and someone else has been knocked off the stage and both are trying to come back, Falcon can do the Falcon dive on the other person and gain an extra boost to get back on stage.
Rating: 4 out of 5

Falcon Kick

Buttons: Push stick down + B
Damage: 15%
KKT score: 124%
Startup: Medium fast
Duration: Medium
Recovery: Slow
Reach: Long
Flight Path: Regular
Description: Falcon will yell "Falcon Kick!" and start the move. If done on the ground, Falcon will slide forward with his left foot in front and slide along the ground. If done in the air, Falcon will kick downwards at a steep diagonal angle. In both situations, Falcon travels a pretty long way and is engulfed in fire. Anyone hit by the kick will get burned. If Falcon does the kick in the air and hits the ground, he'll just stop at where he lands. If Falcon starts the kick on the ground and slides off the stage, he will travel on the same path as he was on the ground. If the kick hits a wall, Falcon will bounces off of the wall in a back flip.
My Opinion: This move is great for getting cheap hits on enemies. It will get you a hit when all others moves can't seem to hit. It starts fast and travels fast as well, so it can catch people off guard. The recovery is quite slow, however, so overusing this move will lead to people rolling behind and whacking Falcon in the back. Because of the long reach of this move, Falcon can use this to edge guard. Just make sure you jump back immediately after Falcon slides off the stage.
Rating: 4 out of 5.
